Senior Research Associate, Molecular Biology
Job Description:
Bluefin Biomedicine is looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our aggressive, fast paced company in the role of Senior Research Associate, Antibody Discovery. The individual will report to the Director of Antibody Discovery and Upstream Process Development, joining a team of dedicated scientists engaged in developing therapeutic antibodies to novel cancer antigens. The successful candidate should have a good understanding of molecular biology and the cloning and expression of recombinant proteins as well as strong communication skills.
Responsibilities:
• Clone variable domains from antibodies and characterize them
• Engineer antibodies (by site-directed mutagenesis or synthetic DNA) into expression vectors
• Perform in vitro analyses to test antibody candidates
• Evaluate and improve existing expression vectors
• Conduct other hands-on laboratory work that supports general research activities in a dynamic, fast paced environment driven by tight milestones
• Maintain accurate experimental/work records/physical inventory
• The scientist will work with project teams to choose and prioritize experiments. There will be multiple, concurrent projects so the ability to multi-task efficiently and the ability to function as a collaborative team player are essential.
Qualifications:
• Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or equivalent. B.S. with 5 or more years of experience or M.S. with 3 or more years of experience
• Excellent hands-on molecular biology skills including familiarity with cloning from tissue culture
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and record-keeping are essential
• Experience with degenerate PCR amplification, seamless-style cloning (high-fidelity Gibson, Seamless, Golden Gate assembly, etc.), DNA purification, tissue culture, screening in parallel, etc. is a plus
• Familiarity with gene design software is a plus
• Previous participation on team-oriented projects will be beneficial
